I make plans for the day, and God just laughs!

Well, my son is truly nearly grown up! He set his alarm, got up and got off to work at 6:00 am ALL BY HIMSELF this morning! I woke up at 6:30 and nearly panicked, but he was already gone. Hubby got up then and left to go plow while it was cool, so I slept in, really slept in~~ until 8:45 am and that is LATE for me!!!!!!! Got up started laundry and thought "Well, I will have a leisurely day of laundry and catching up on my Bible Study and reading the paper, then to Kaitlyn's wedding and Dustin's Bday party, blah blah blah! To make a long story short God laughed at my plans!!!! As I was hanging up laundry on my clothesline OUTSIDE (gotta save that electricity!), my sweet MIL came over and said that Smith's Gardentown had called and had some of the grass sod she had been waiting for, but she needed to pick it up today! OK, quick trip to WFalls, I can exchange some stuff at Pennys, get her grass and still make it home in time for the wedding. You know, I am so glad God changed my plans! I truly value the time I get to spend with my MIL ~~especially with my mom being gone now for 4 years. God chose this day to allow me to spend most of it with Ethel and we always have such fun together!! God has divine appointments for us each day and sometimes they are with the sandpaper people in our lives and then again, sometimes they are with the people we love the most! Thanks God ~~ I really enjoyed my assignment today!

Everything Old is New again

Well, if you would have told me 10 years ago that I would be wearing maternity clothes at age 49 I would have fainted!!!! Now don't get excited~~~ I am NOT pregnant. It is just the fashion today to either wear tops that look like they are for the mother-to-be (at nine months) or the Size XL t-shirt is so tight you feel like you look like a busted can of biscuits!!! My Mom always said that everything comes back into style, and now I believe her!!! In the early 70's we wore "smocks" and when I got pregnant with Tara I thought I should have hung on to those. I went shopping with a friend on Friday and came home with three tops I swear could have hung in my closet during any of my pregnancies! The only good thing now about these kinds of tops are that they hide all the accumulated baby leftovers!!!!!!!!!!

Hello blogger world!

Hello Blogger world!

I have created this blog to try to stay up with technology (who me?) and with my friends (thanks Tam) and tech savvy daughter (hello Tara!). Sorry Brittany, I am toooo old for My Space! Maybe I will post from time to time to chat, but more likely to rant!! I have been inspired by Kacy & Wilma over at Trey & Tyler's blog and have laughed until I cried at Mama of a Whole lot of Drama's blog (thanks Christy --bet you didn't even know I was lurking around your blog!) Beth Moore and her daughter's posts have made me laugh and cry and think deeply about my relationships -those with my God, with my grown daughters (bless all three of you~ I am so proud of each one of you!) and how it is OK to be from Texas and love big hair!!!!

You might be wondering what a newfangled Nana might be ~~ well newfangled is defined as: of a new kind or fashion. Well, I don't think I am the same kind of grandma to my grandkids that my mom was to my kids. Wish I was, but I try to be the bestest nana I know how to be.....Just drop everything when they are here and play, and swing, and read, and bake!!!!!! There isn't one thing that is more important to do while they are here than what THEY want to do (except watering all the concrete in the back with city water ~~ Nana does draw the line somewhere!!!!)

That's enough for now!
